You can easily check which version of the iPod Touch iOS Firmware is installed on your iPod Touch. Here's how...

1. Grab your iPod Touch.

2. Select the 'Settings' icon on your iPod Touch homescreen.

3. Select 'General'.

4. Select 'About'.

The current "Version" installed on your iPod Touch will be shown. If the firmware version shown on your iPod Touch is less than 5.0.1. I highly recommend that you upgrade it using the instructions here.
